WHO ARE WE?
Our Board of Directors meets monthly to plan and implement each camping season. We are run entirely by volunteers who share a love for Camp Ta-Wa-Si!
Meet The Board

Chair of the Board
Dr. Roger Russell
Roger is no stranger to Camp Ta-Wa-Si. He has been a camper, a counselor, and a member of the Board of Directors on what is now his third stint. During his times on the camp Board, he has served as Vice-Chair, Personnel Chair, and now is thrilled to have the role of Chair. In earlier years, he was very lucky to also experience camp from activities as a cub, a scout, a Hi-C youth group member, and as a Sunday schooler.
Beyond the actual camp experiences, Roger brings a variety of relevant professional experiences to the camp Board. He recently retired from his roleas Dean of Professional Programs (Education & Organizational Management) at Crandall University. He continues to teach a graduate level course “Managing Organizations across Borders & Cultures”. In earlier years, he earned a B.Sc. (Agricultural Economics & Rural Development) , an M.B.A (Management) and a Ph.D (Business). Roger is proud to have lived and worked in 5 Canadian provinces. A career highlight was the two years with his family in Indonesia working as the Country Director for the Canadian Co-operative Association.
It is no big surprise that Roger’s family have all been engaged in camp as well. This includes Catherine, his wife of 40 years, their 2 daughters, Catrina & Allison, and all 4 grandsons: Lukas,Matas, Jake, and Rory.

Secretary/Registrar/Promotions Chair
Dr. Allison "Zazoo" Bernardi
I grew up at Camp Ta-Wa-Si having been a camper for 9 years, a CIT for 2 years, on staff for 5 years and now volunteering on and off the Board of Directors for 14 years. I love seeing new faces experience the same joy I felt as a kid. Watching my own children make camp memories has been the most amazing feeling.
While I bring a lot of relevant experience to my positions on the Board, I really believe I gained a lot of relevant experience while being involved with camp. I became a leader, gained interpersonal skills as well as independence while working at camp.
When I am not volunteering for camp, I own and operate Russell Chiropractic & Family Wellness in Sackville NB, volunteer as Treasurer for the Sackville BIA, and raise my twin boys alongside my husband.

Personnel Chair
Kourtney "Spill" Logan
Kourtney is a lifelong camp person; having attended camp as a camper first in ’99, she volunteered as a CIT for three summers, worked on staff for 8, and volunteers again on the Board of Directors.
Kourtney is passionate about leadership and is particularly eager to work with children, youth, and their families who need extra support. She enjoys working collaboratively with staff to solve problems, support campers and CITs, and dreams about the future of camp. Kourtney holds a degree in Child and Youth Studies and a diploma in Child and Youth Care and works within the Pre-Primary program in Nova Scotia as an educator. She absolutely loves seeing children within her home community attend camp and looks forward to making connections each year with the young people she works with!

Grants Chair
Sarah "Prada" Rouse
Sarah’s love for Camp Ta-Wa-Si began when she first attended as a camper at the age of 6. Some of her favourite memories over her camping years include woods games, crazy utensil night, and of course toothbrush parties. Sarah went on to work at Ta-Wa-Si as a counsellor in 2013 – without a doubt her most fun summer job! Sarah credits her time at Ta-Wa-Si for helping her develop leadership skills and a love for the outdoors.
As an adult, Sarah wanted to give back to the Camp that means so much to her and joined the board of directors in 2016. Her focus is primarily on grant/funding applications, as well as assisting with policy matters. Outside of her Ta-Wa-Si involvement, Sarah works as a lawyer and enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and pug Hugo.

Program Chair
Catrina "Timone" Russell-Dolan
Catrina is a passionate educator who specializes in developing engaging programming on New Brunswick’s natural and cultural heritage. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Geology and a Master’s of Organizational Management and has worked with the New Brunswick Museum and Stonehammer Geopark for more than a decade.
Attending and working at Camp Ta-Wa-Si has had a profound impact on Catrina’s life and career development, and she looks forward to contributing to developing new and innovative programming that will have campers coming back year after year!

Although Morgan never got a chance to attend Ta-Wa-Si as a child, she has come to Family Camp for a couple of years. She found out about camp through her husband, Chris (AKA Boxers) and loved it so much, they got married there in 2023!
Morgan has taken on Accreditation Chair for camp to help ensure our standards are high and camp is safe for all who attend. She works as a lawyer in Moncton and spends her free time with her son, Eli.
