WHO ARE WE?
Our Board of Directors meets monthly to plan and implement each camping season. We are run entirely by volunteers who share a love for Camp Ta-Wa-Si!
Meet The Board

Chair of the Board
Dr. Roger Russell
Roger is no stranger to Camp Ta-Wa-Si. He has been a camper, a counselor, and a member of the Board of Directors on what is now his third stint. During his times on the camp Board, he has served as Vice-Chair, Personnel Chair, and now is thrilled to have the role of Chair. In earlier years, he was very lucky to also experience camp from activities as a cub, a scout, a Hi-C youth group member, and as a Sunday schooler.
Beyond the actual camp experiences, Roger brings a variety of relevant professional experiences to the camp Board. He recently retired from his roleas Dean of Professional Programs (Education & Organizational Management) at Crandall University. He continues to teach a graduate level course “Managing Organizations across Borders & Cultures”. In earlier years, he earned a B.Sc. (Agricultural Economics & Rural Development) , an M.B.A (Management) and a Ph.D (Business). Roger is proud to have lived and worked in 5 Canadian provinces. A career highlight was the two years with his family in Indonesia working as the Country Director for the Canadian Co-operative Association.
It is no big surprise that Roger’s family have all been engaged in camp as well. This includes Catherine, his wife of 40 years, their 2 daughters, Catrina & Allison, and all 4 grandsons: Lukas,Matas, Jake, and Rory.

Secretary/Promotions Chair
Dr. Allison "Zazoo" Bernardi
I grew up at Camp Ta-Wa-Si having been a camper for 9 years, a CIT for 2 years, on staff for 5 years and now volunteering on and off the Board of Directors for 14 years. I love seeing new faces experience the same joy I felt as a kid. Watching my own children make camp memories has been the most amazing feeling.
While I bring a lot of relevant experience to my positions on the Board, I really believe I gained a lot of relevant experience while being involved with camp. I became a leader, gained interpersonal skills as well as independence while working at camp.
When I am not volunteering for camp, I own and operate Russell Chiropractic & Family Wellness and Milo's Pet Shop in Sackville NB, volunteer as Treasurer for the Sackville BIA, and raise my twin boys alongside my husband.

Personnel Chair
Dr. Jessica "Match" Parker
I have had a lifelong love of the beach and the outdoors and so TaWaSi has been special to me since day one. I volunteered and worked there during my teen years and have maintained my connection to the place and the people ever since. My own children have also fallen in love with Ta Wa Si and I'm so happy that our family continues to have a connection with this special place.
I am delighted to be helping with the continued growth of Camp Ta Wa Si as a board member. I continue to be a person who loves the outdoors, camping, and creating. I am a mother of 2 wonderful children and I work as a child psychologist. I am deeply passionate about the important experiences that children can gain through camp and I am grateful to continue to be a part of the Ta Wa Si Community.

Rental Chair
Alisha Budd
Camp has always held a special place in my heart. Before joining the Camp Ta-Wa-Si Board of Directors, I spent two summers working as a camp counselor in British Columbia, where I saw firsthand the positive impact that camp experiences can have on children and youth. Those summers helped shape my appreciation for the confidence, friendships, and independence that camp can foster.
Today, I get to experience camp from a different perspective as a parent. My two children have attended Camp Ta-Wa-Si for the past three years, and it has been incredible to watch them grow, make memories, and look forward to returning each summer. Seeing camp through their eyes has strengthened my commitment to supporting the camp community.
Professionally, I am a Licensed Practical Nurse with the One Door Chronic Disease Management & Wellness in Amherst, Nova Scotia. I enjoy building connections within the community and helping people access programs and resources that support healthy living.
As Chair of Rentals, I am proud to contribute to the continued success of Camp Ta-Wa-Si and help ensure that future generations can experience the same sense of belonging, adventure, and fun that makes camp so special.
